Written, directed by, and starring Jeff Ryan, MOOCH is an offbeat New Jersey crime comedy set in the world of country-club golf.
Shane is almost thirty and still working as a caddie, surrounded by coworkers half his age. After stealing money from the locker of Don Simisomo, one of New Jersey’s wealthiest nightclub owners, Shane gets caught in the act. Instead of turning him in, Don hires Shane as an unlikely private investigator to dig up dirt on his wife before their divorce hearing, pulling him into a strange world of theft, adultery, and increasingly complicated relationships.
Part autobiography, part crime comedy, MOOCH draws from Ryan’s own experiences and blends golf, comedy-noir and a distinctly pop-punk sensibility.
The ensemble includes Scott Cohen (Gilmore Girls), Geneva Carr (Bull), Will Chase (Stranger Things, Dopesick), Louis Cancelmi (Killers of the Flower Moon, The Irishman), Olli Haaskivi (Oppenheimer), Katerina Tannenbaum (Better Call Saul), Ashby Gentry (My Life with the Walter Boys), Molly Brown and Lucy Walters.
The film features an original soundtrack created with Aaron Gillespie of Underoath/The Almost, with contributions from Derek Sanders of Mayday Parade, Kellin Quinn of Sleeping with Sirens, JT Woodruff of Hawthorne Heights, Cassadee Pope, Spencer Chamberlain of Underoath and John Vesely of Secondhand Serenade.
MOOCH was acquired by Freestyle Digital Media and released across North American digital, cable and satellite platforms on August 14, 2026.
